Abstract

The purpose of this study was to observe histopathologic and histochemic reaction of the blood clot in alveolar sockets following teeth extraction in dogs. The 10 male Korean dogs, aged 8 months or more, were employed in this experiment.
The third and fourth premolars of four quadrants were extracted under the general anesthesia using Nembutal(Pentobarbital sodium) injection and open drop ether solution.
Then those dogs were sacrificed on 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 15th day after the extraction respectively. The upper and lower jaws were removed fixed in the solution of the 10% N-formalin solution, and decalcified in the 5% nitric acid and phloroglucin solution, there after those samples were embedded in paraffin for the slide section. Each sample was stained various type of the method which was Hematoxylin-eosin stain, P.T. A. H stain, Weigert stain and Van Gieson stain.
The following results were obtained.
1. The formation of a blood clot was the beginning of tissue regeneration. in undisturbed healing of extraction wounds in dogs.
2. At the end of the second day, fibroblasts had proliferated into this blood clot.
3. Cancellous bone is projected into the _organized clot from the bottom and sides of the wound and first appears by the sixth day after the extraction of the tooth.
4. The sockets were approximately filled with new bone fifteenth days after the ction of the tooth.
5. The gingival surface of the socket was filled with a highly vascular young connective¢¥¢¥j tissue, which in turn was partially covered by the proliferating gingival epithelium " on the end of third day after the extraction.
6. The gingival epithelium was well united at ninth day after the extraction of tooth.
7. The periodontal membrane in "the socket wall were remained partly and vaguely with hyaline charges on the fifteenth day after the extraction.
